Homemade Big Mac

Not sure about McDonalds and what they put in their burgers? Don't worry, I have the solution. I tried this one myself and I must say I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome. And there's a plus: you choose the size of it and you know from where your ingredients come from :) I was inspired by the video that McDonalds recently uploaded on YouTube, unveiling the secret of the Big Mac (watch video).

If you want to make one burger for yourself, you will need:

- 2 burger buns
- 500g minced beef
- 1 slice of red cheddar cheese
- 2 leaves of iceberg lettuce
- 3 cucumber pickles slices
- 1/2 small diced onion
- salt
- pepper

For the Big Mac sauce (just whisk everything in a bowl):
- 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon of pickle/hamburger relish
- 1 teaspoon of white vinegar
- 1 pinch of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of paprika

Begin with the buns. Heat a pan and place the buns with the interiors facing the pan. Let them roast until the inside is golden. You'll just need a whole bun and the bottom part of the other one.

Divide the minced beef in two equal parts, season with salt and pepper and form balls with them. Then flatten them until you have a burger. Fry the burgers in the pan with no oil, just the burger.

Start building the burger by spreading the sauce onto the bottom buns and placing the diced onion on top of the sauce. Then chop the lettuce in strips and place it on top of the onion. Place one slice of cheese on top of the lettuce. Repeat this process on top of the middle bun and instead of the cheese put the cucumber pickle slices. Then you just have to place each one of the burgers on top of each half (one on top of the cheese and one on top of the pickles). Now you want to put the bun with the pickle on top of the other with the cheese and finish with the top bun. And voilá! Your Homemade Big Mac is done. Give it a try. You'll see it's worth it. :)
